Travel Scholarship (Application Process and Receipt Date)

Those who have completed Ph.D. or M.D. programs in the past 5 years are eligible to apply for a limited number of travel scholarships to attend the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR).

Travel award recipients must be U.S. citizens, U.S. Nationals or permanent residents.



What costs does the Travel Scholarship cover?

Travel Scholarships will pay for the award recipients’ airfare or other travel from their city of origin to Washington, D.C., hotel accommodations for two nights and ground transportation. There are no additional fees - celebration registration is free and attendance at all meeting activities is open to the public.



How to apply for the Travel Scholarship

To apply for a travel scholarship, please complete the following four steps:

Step 2: Complete the application form.

Step 3: Collect or compose the following supporting materials.

1. A signed letter of support from your Dean, Department Chair, or fellowship coordinator, confirming the date you completed your degree program.
2. A Personal Statement describing your research and career interests and how attendance at the OBSSR anniversary celebration will benefit you (maximum 2 pages).
3. Your current curriculum vitae.

Step 4: Complete and mail 5 copies of the application form, with supporting materials, to:

Fax and electronic copies of the application and supporting materials will not be accepted. Mail your materials well in advance to ensure that they arrive by the deadline: April 14, 2006.

The Travel Scholarship Committee will notify recipients of their travel award on or before May 15.
