"Where have we been?"

"What is known and has been accomplished
within behavioral and social sciences?"

"Where are we now?"

"Where are we going?"

GOALS

:: To highlight the role of OBSSR within the context of NIH—OBSSR’s
   history, accomplishments, and goals.

:: To showcase, in a highly visible manner, the last decade’s major
contributions of behavioral and social sciences research to health
   promotion and disease reduction.

Cover three major crosscutting perspectives or themes:

    1. Cells to societal levels of inquiry;
    2. Fundamental to clinical to population sciences; and
    3. Life-span developmental phases.

:: To present examples of cutting edge fundamental research,
trans-disciplinary, translational, dissemination, and policy research.
Especially, to highlight some of the areas and programs that have
been developed as trans-NIH activities with OBSSR collaboration.

:: To recognize and display the OBSSR programs within the
   NIH Institutes and Centers.

:: To use a “Town Hall Meeting” format to present a draft OBSSR
strategic plan to guide future priorities for research funding of:: ::
behavioral and social sciences research at NIH and obtain input
and feedback on that plan from the audience.
