G. Stephane Philogene is the Assistant Director for Policy and Planning in the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), in the Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Philogene is responsible for major activities in the areas of science policy, strategic planning, evaluation, and management of OBSSR program activities. He joined OBSSR in November 2002 after serving in the NIH intramural research program in various senior policy positions. For his work at NIH, he has received a number of awards including an NIH Director’s Award, and NIH Awards of Merit. His research efforts and publications have been in the areas of efficiency and productivity analysis, public policy, and evaluation of bio-behavioral and social sciences research programs. Dr. Philogene is a member of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, and the Southern Regional Science Association. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics from the University of Florida in Gainesville and a doctorate in public policy from the School of Public Policy at George Mason University.
