Travel Information

DIRECTIONS - GETTING TO THE AREA:

By Air:

O'Hare International Airport (773-686-2200) handles more passengers than any other airport in the world. For visitors needing information or directions, airport information booths are located on the lower levels of the domestic terminals and on the upper and lower levels of the International Terminal. A foreign currency exchange is located on the lower level of the International Terminal. It is 13 miles from O’Hare to downtown and taking a taxi to/from the airport varies depending on travel time from $30-50.  

Midway Airport (773-838-0600) is located at 5700 Cicero Ave., 20 minutes from downtown Chicago. The one-building airport is divided into three terminals, A, B and C. The main lobby at the airport's center entrance is where the information booth and all vehicle pick-up services are available. It's about 12 miles from Midway to downtown. Taking a taxi to/from the airport varies depending on travel time from $25–45 from Midway.     

Gary Chicago International Airport (219-949-9722) is located in Gary, Indiana at 6001 W. Industrial Hwy. Just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago, it offers free, 24-hour parking and convenient access to I-90, I-80/94, I-65, the Chicago Skyway, the Dan Ryan Expy. and Lake Shore Dr.

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers fast and direct train service from the airports to downtown, convenient bus and train lines to major attractions, and easy-to-use maps and brochures. Continental Airport Express departs every 10-15 minutes from O’Hare and Midway baggage claim. From O’Hare: Cost is $25 per person one–way or roundtrip $46; more than one traveler - $18 per person one-way or roundtrip $34. From Midway: Cost is $20 per person one-way or roundtrip $36; more than one traveler - $14 per person one-way or roundtrip $26. By Rail:

For train travelers, there are Amtrak stations in Chicago. Call 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit www.amtrak.com for information and reservations. Metra (www.metrarail.com) operates 12 commuter rail lines into downtown Chicago from the six-county area of northeast Illinois.

 

Directions by Car:

From the North/O'Hare Airport:
Take I-90 East (Kennedy Expy.) and exit at Ohio St. Turn right Michigan Ave. At the second light, turn left on Illinois Street. At stop sign, turn right. Gleacher Center is on the right.

From Lakeshore Drive:
Heading either north or south on Lake Shore Drive, exit at Grand Avenue. Follow Grand west to Columbus Drive/Fairbanks Court. Turn left to East North Water Street and turn right. Gleacher Center is straight ahead.
