Overview
The annual NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (BSSR) Festival is organized by OBSSR and the NIH Behavioral and Social Sciences Research Coordinating Committee (BSSR-CC).
The festival highlights a diverse range of outstanding research from across the NIH Institutes and Centers, offering a comprehensive view of the latest NIH-funded BSSR projects and their impact in biomedical research.
This year’s festival will include:
- A keynote panel on artificial intelligence and BSSR
- A fireside chat with Drs. Jane M. Simoni, Director of OBSSR, and Nora D. Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse
- A dedicated hour of networking at the start of each conference day
- Exhibits from offices across the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI)
- Opportunities to learn more about DPCPSI activities and co-funding priorities

Visiting the NIH Campus
- Security: For the safety of all attendees, NIH requires a security screening process. If you do not have an NIH badge, please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to allow time for screening.
- Directions: You can find information on how to reach the conference center, including parking and metro options, on the NIH website.
- Food: The Natcher cafeteria will be open from 11:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

If you are unable to join in person, you can attend the festival virtually via NIH VideoCast. Please note that the VideoCast broadcast begins at 1:00 p.m. ET. The first hour of the festival (Noon–1:00 p.m. ET) is reserved for in-person networking.
