Applications are now open for the 2027 National Institutes of Health (NIH) mobile health Training Institute (mHTI), a premier program dedicated to developing the next generation of transdisciplinary researchers in mobile health (mHealth).
Building on the success of past cohorts, the 2027 mHTI, which will be held on June 20–24, 2027, will offer a distinctive hybrid learning experience, combining a series of interactive online webinars with an intensive in-person institute at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Alumni frequently describe this institute as “transformative” and “a seminal experience in my professional development,” praising its collaborative environment, the sense of community among scholars, and the exceptional mentorship provided by its faculty.
Led by a team of distinguished mHealth experts and NIH program officers, the mHTI provides hands-on mentorship in the latest research methods, analytical tools, and digital health technologies. It is designed for both early career and established investigators seeking to expand their interdisciplinary networks and develop impactful, technology-enabled health care solutions.
Funding and Eligibility
mHTI is supported by the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering-funded mHealth Center for Discovery, Optimization & Translation of Temporally-Precise Interventions (mDOT Center).
Participation is limited to 25 scholars selected through a competitive application process. Priority is given to investigators who intend to develop collaborative, innovative research and pursue future NIH, U.S. National Science Foundation, or other peer-reviewed funding opportunities. There are no tuition or registration fees, and lodging at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center is subsidized for selected scholars.
