In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a consortium of 21 NIH institutes, centers, and offices led by OBSSR and the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institute on Aging, and National Institute of Nursing Research was formed. The Social, Behavioral, and Economic (SBE) Committee was tasked with focusing on research to improve our understanding of the efficacy and impacts of various mitigation efforts of SARS-CoV-2; assess the downstream health and health care access effects from the economic downturn; and evaluate digital and community interventions to ameliorate negative health effects.
